El presidente de la Asamblea de las Naciones Unidas, Miguel d’Escoto Brockmann inauguró el 24 de junio en Nueva York la Conferencia de las Naciones Unidas sobre la Crisis Financiera y Económica Mundial con un discurso donde entre otras cosas señaló que “no es humano ni responsable construir una Arca de Noé que salve solamente al sistema económico imperante dejando a la gran mayoría de la humanidad a su propia suerte, sufriendo las nefastas consecuencias de un sistema impuesto por una irresponsable, aunque poderosa minoría”. NEW YORK - June 24, 2009 - By: Jana Silverman, Social Watch.- Today, in an open dialogue with representatives of civil society, Prof. Joseph Stiglitz, Chair of the Commission of Experts of the President of the UN General Assembly on Reform of the International Monetary and Financial System, detailed many of the recommendations proposed by that Commission and in particular called for a “new intellectual framework” which can lay the basis for a new global financial architecture.
